If you want high investment returns you need to take a risk but the amount of risk you take for the reward you get is important. Which are the best high return investments in relation to risk?

1. Mutual Funds
Are these a good high return investment? Were told they are but do the facts add up. No they don’t. The overwhelming bulk of mutual funds cannot out perform the S & P Stock index and very few make double digit gains consistently.
Fact is, asset managers promote the ones that do well, then drop them when they don’t and find another with short term performance that’s good, then that’s dropped.

Their a poor high return investment and best you can expect is double about 10 – 15% and with downside swings of up to 30% so the risk reward is not great.
2. Leveraged funds
These can include futures options and currencies but the facts show that while there are some great performers most put in mediocre performance.
You can get managers in this sector that only make on performance and this is the way to go should you wish to be involved in this sector. Normally you risk you entire investment and the best upside is normally 20% and this is a minority.
3. Real Estate
Although not seen as a high return investment, it beats mutual funds as an investment hands down in terms of risk – reward.
Most people who are careful with location and who hold longer term normally get good solid returns and low risk. Pick the right location and rewards can be stunning.
4. Land
Not as well known as real estate, but its cheaper to buy and can produce gains of similar magnitude or even greater.
Howard Hughes was a big fan of this high return investment as are most of the world’s richest families.
Land is a short supply their not making it anymore! and land bought in prime locations that gets developed produces spectacular gains.
Low risk investments can actually be high return investments
If you take the above 4 high return investments, it’s a fact that land and real estate produce far bigger gains on average than mutual funds or leveraged managed funds and they also do so with low risk.
If you want a high return investment forget the hype and the minority of mutual funds and leveraged funds that make stunning gains most don’t.
Hedge funds are a perfect example. Very few win. Their cloaked in secrecy, in offshore locations most of the time. So, you never know what’s going on and when you find out it’s too late.

If you take real estate and land the way to turn these into high return investments is simply to pick the right location. If you do this you will have a high return investment with low risk.

What to Do When They Don’t Call Back After Your Job Interview
Not getting a follow up call, as promised, happens more than you think. Candidates are sure that they are a shoe-in for the position, and expecting an offer, and then nothing. This is not only frustrating for the candidate, but reflects poorly on the company.
Expecting a call that doesn’t come

Cheryl feels confident that she aced the interview, and has followed up with a dynamite thank you letter. She was told a decision would be made before the end of the week, and is almost sure she will be getting an offer. That was Tuesday, and by Friday she is having doubts. There has been no call from the company.
Does this mean she isn’t going to get an offer? Should she call and ask, “What’s up?” Should she just hang by her nails over the weekend?
What to do?
Cheryl decides to consults her cousin, Gloria, who is an HR manager at another company. Gloria tells her that she should call the interviewer and find out where she stands. She advises her to wait until Tuesday to call. (Mondays are always bad)
The follow up phone call
On Tuesday morning, Cheryl is equipped with a script so she will be focused and confident when she makes her call. She gets a voice mail and leaves her message.
“Miss French, This is Cheryl Jones, we met last Tuesday when I interviewed for the position of Customer Service Rep. I’d like to inquire about the status of the position and whether I am still under consideration for the job. I would appreciate it if you would get back to me today. My number is 333-999-8888. Thank you for your time.”
Be persistent – not a pest
If you don’t get a return call as promised, call them and leave a message. Be prepared, professional, and courteous. Try to reach the person at least one to three times, explaining that you want the information before you consider other positions because this company would be your first choice. If you don’t get an answer, consider it a “No” answer. There is a fine line between being persistent and being a pest.
You may get lucky and get a “live” person when you call to find out your status. If you do have such luck, you can use this opportunity to ask for feedback on your interviewing effectiveness. Sometimes, not often, a person will spend some time and give you advice. If this happens, be grateful and learn from the experience.
Most employers are aware that candidates are anxious about the status of their acceptance, and will let them know in a timely manner. But, there are employers who do keep candidates waiting and wondering what happened, even though they said they would call by a certain date. Take this into consideration as information about the company’s practices and whether you would want to work for this company.
In the meantime, rather than sitting and waiting for that phone call that may never come, continue to work on your job search. It is never wise to “put all your eggs in one basket.”

Firstly, it might be important to note that the waste ink absorber is a little pad that sits under the cartridge’s “home” position and collects any loose ink that may be on the cartridge. This prevents smudges, so it’s a good thing to have. Many ink jet printers have them, but as far as I know, only Canon PIXMA printers display an error when a certain internal counter suggests that the ink absorber may be full. If you’ve done a lot of printing, the ink absorber may actually be full and you might need to have it cleaned or replaced to ensure the best printing quality. However, if you haven’t printed that much or you have and you just need to print something right this minute, there is a way to reset the counter and stop the error from showing up again. Until the counter reaches a certain unknown point, that is, in which case you’ll have to repeat the procedure.

Unfortunately, the instructions for resetting the counter differ from printer to printer and again, as far as I can tell, are not mentioned in the manual. People have been able to figure out how to do it, however, and there are instructions online for many printers. Searching for your printer model and either “ink absorber” or “used ink tank” should provide you with a few links to check out. Almost all of them are pretty easy to follow, albeit contrived and not easily discoverable on your own. Once the counter is reset, you should be able to print again.
If the ink absorber pad in your Canon is indeed full, you might want to replace it. Having it serviced is generally not a good option, since it will likely cost almost as much as the original cost of the printer and is not covered under warranty, since it’s considered normal wear and tear and not a defect. Canon will, however, sell you a new ink absorber that shouldn’t be too hard to replace. The number to call, in the United States, is 732-521-7230, which is their New Jersey parts center. They are open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 8:00pm EST and should be able to sell you a replacement. You can also try to clean the ink absorber on your Canon without replacement using tissue to absorb as much ink from the absorber as you can.

You can purchase floater insurance for those items that are extremely valuable in price for sufficient coverage if anything should happen to them, even if they are lost.

Obviously, the more coverage you have for liability, the better. Painting is the cheapest way to update your home. You may hire a painter or do the job yourself to save money. You will probably use a roller or pad for walls, but will need a brush for cutting in corners and painting trim. The right brush will make these jobs easier. Which brush should you buy? Here are some things to consider.
Price. Cheap brushes are a waste of money, according to the Aubuchon Hardware Web site. You get what you pay for and cheap brushes have few bristles. If the brush doesn’t have enough bristles your do-it-yourself project will take longer. Worse, the Aubuchon site says “a poor brush . . . will result in a poor finish.”

Shape. Match the shape of the brush to the job. Sherwin-Williams recommends a chisel trim brush with slanted bristles for corners and edges. Buy a square-shaped brush for flat areas. You need an angled brush for windows, trim, and tight spaces.
Bristles. Synthetic bristles — nylon, polyester, nylon, and polyester blend — are recommended for water-based paint. Natural bristles, which are made from hog and ox hair, are recommended for oil-based paint. The Do It Yourself Web site describes Chinex bristles, a Du Pont product. According to the site, “Chinex bristles simulate the characteristics of natural bristles.”
Shape. Home Depot recommends a one-inch brush (straight-edge or angled) for corners, edging, trim, and window sill. A two-inch brush (straight-edge or angled) is recommended for woodwork, trim, molding, and cutting into corners. You need a three-inch, straight-edge brush for cabinets, doors, beams, and stairs. Use a four-inch, straight-edge brush for ceilings and walls.
Quality. Buying a cheap brush is a waste of your hard-earned money. “A top-of-the-line brush will generally hold more paint, streak less, give a better finish and last longer,” according to the Home Depot Web site. Look for a brush with a metal, non-corrosive band. The band should be held in place with screws or rivets, not just bent around the bristles, and the brush should have a wooden handle.
Using the brush. According to Lowe’s you should moisten a synthetic brush with water before you dip it in water-based paint. Resist the urge to over-load the brush with paint because this will cause drips and streaks. Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to get more coverage. Never soak a brush in water or solvent for hours at a time.
Cleaning. A brush used with water-based paint should be cleaned in warm, soapy water. Clean the brush in solvent if you used oil-based paint. After the brush is clean spin it around in the air to get rid of moisture. Straighten the bristles with a metal comb and lay the brush flat to dry. Store the brush in its original package or wrap it in aluminum foil.
Don’t let your paint job turn into a drippy, streaky mess. Buy the best brush you can afford. After you have finished painting invite your friends for dinner and show them your handiwork. They will give you the unofficial DIY award for your painting efforts.
